Who buys children's books?


Today's post is for those of you that, like myself, write children's books. We all need to think about our target audience when designing our marketing plan. For children's books we can break it down to the age range of the reader, possibly whether they are male or female, maybe even the activities they like to do, but it's not often that the child will be the one actually buying the book. In this case, our target reader and our target buyer are not the same person.

The below infographic was designed for Bowker International and, whilst the obvious answer to the question "who buys children's books?" is parents, it gives some interesting facts that should give you some food for thought.
