When did you
know you wanted to be a writer?
When I was a
mother of toddlers, shortly after I got out of the Air Force and discovered I
am not SuperMom material. I’d always
enjoyed writing in the past, but when I had the “free time” and no adult
conversation for large parts of the day, I realized I not only wanted to write,
but had to write.
What genre
do you write and why?
I’ve written
a lot of things, from devotionals to craft books, but mostly I focus on science
fiction, fantasy and horror. Very often
I’m writing parodies, but I do serious stuff as well. I’d say it’s 50-50.
Tell us
about your latest book.
How about if
I show you?
This is the
second DragonEye, PI novel, and I’m tickled that it’s finally coming out!
What
marketing methods are you using to promote your book?
This time, I
tried to do more pre-advertising: I made
several teaser trailers, had a couple of polls, and did some serial stories
(one over Christmas I did as a charity fundraiser and raised over $400 for Food
for the Poor).
I’ve also got a huge blog tour going.
What formats
is the book available in?
Electronic
right now. If sales justify it, the
publisher will go to print. I would love
to see it in print!

What do you
like to do when you're not writing?
Play games
with the kids, especially Munchkin and You’ve Been Sentenced. We also like Settlers of Kataan. We have a few TV shows we like, and I was
spending too much time on Facebook, but I gave it up for Lent.
Who are your
favorite authors?
Madeleine
L’Engle will always be the childhood favorite.
Favorites that are comedy fantasy like this one include Douglas Adams,
Terry Pratchet, and Robert Asprin. I
hope I’ve lived up to their standard.
What advice
do you have for other writers?
Rejection
isn’t personal; it’s business. So treat
it that way.
What's your
favorite quote about writing/for writers?
From a
fortune cookie: If you haven’t’ been rejected three times this week, you aren’t really
trying.

What's the
best thing about being a writer?
I can be a
nun working in outer space, a cynical dragon, a deranged Norse goddess, a relic
hunter stuck in a black hole...and no one is going to have me committed!
Where can
people find out more about you and your writing?
http://fabianspace.com. Pick a genre and you’ll see a list of my
books.
Anything
else you'd like to add?
Yes. Here’s a scavenger hunt clue: “It’s complicated!” To find out about the scavenger hunt, check
