Kevin Ellis Interview

Tell us a little about yourself
One of my favorite subjects! I was born in Shreveport, LA. My father was in the military so we moved approximately every three years.

When did you decide to become a writer?
I have wanted to write for several years but was never afforded the opportunity. Being a police officer in a major metropolitan city is not conducive to an active writing career. After almost seventeen years, I decided enough was enough.

What was your first published work?
"The Rhoberts Brothers"

What is your dream as a writer?
To watch my novel become a movie with a visionary director.

What writing avenues are you currently pursuing?
Thrillers for the most part. I would like to try the horror genre after my current characters are finished in their limited series.

Is there anything you wish you had been told earlier in your career?
Absolutely. Check the roller for paper before you sit down and not after. Don't sweat the critics who tear apart your book. It's not personal. (They don't check for paper at all!)
What advice can you offer writers just breaking into a serious writing career?
Have fun with it. Your imagination is unlimited. If you think you shouldn't go there...please do. New and uncommon work is so refreshing. Be persistent with publishers and don't kill the editors. You can think about it, but don't do it.

Anything else you want our readers to know?
Yes, once again, I am available for private consultations with Cameron Diaz and Lindsay Lohan. Jessica Biel was scheduled in a few days ago, but we had a conflict in the dates. (The Mrs is coming so I have to go...) And that's the weather for today guys. Until next time...honey, no...don't read that
