This is in no particular order or importance. The top
tips that I would give to new writers:
https://amzn.to/2PubU3r |
- Learn everything you can about the genre you’re writing in.
- Read as much as you can about the genre you’re writing in.
- Practice and write as often as you can.
- Don’t be afraid to trash words and rewrite.
- Hire an editor.
- Determine your strengths and weaknesses – don’t try to make your own cover just because you can. Unless you are a graphic designer or have previous experience, chances are that’s not your forte. You’re a writer. It’s best to hire out what you can.
- Don’t be afraid of criticism.
- Immerse yourself in the world of self-publishing or traditional publishing. Whatever direction you’re wanting to go in, learn the ways of that world.
- Write from the heart.
- Read Jennifer Probst’s novel, Write Naked. And then, write naked.
- Try news things. What works well for the ten great authors you follow on Instagram, may not be what works for you.
- You have to spend money to make money.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help or to ask for advice from people and other writers. Chances are they may have already experienced what you’re currently going through.
Ashley Bostock is a Colorado Native and currently lives in Nebraska, with daydreams of moving back home. All her books feature sexy-as-hell heroes and strong heroines. She loves reading any chance she gets - Jill Shalvis, M. O'Keefe, Rachel Gibson, Karen Robards and Jennifer Probst are some of her favorites! Ashley loves traveling - in a wanderlust's eyes, she's hardly touched the world but to those that rarely travel, she's been everywhere. Thailand, Cambodia, Japan, Turks & Caicos, Russia, China, Tahiti, Vietnam and Scotland, just to name a few.
Ashley is addicted to Instagram - if you want to follow her there: www.instagram.com/ashleybostock
