What genre do you write and why?
I write in three genres: Horror, Non-fiction and YA: YA because of my sister Marcia who dared me to write about her antics growing up in the South Bronx. Horror because it’s fun to write from the voice of the dead person behind the gravestone who did something wrong and is behind the stone and punished for his/her misdeeds. Non-Fiction because I get to share real life issues with readers.

Tell us about your latest book.
A Daughter’s Promise is told in my voice and my mom’s voice showcasing her journey with Alzheimer’s from the moment she realizes that she is having memory issues. I wrote this to help other caregivers understand the illness, how to deal with it and care for someone with this illness. I wrote it providing resources that caregivers can reach out to for guidance and help.

What marketing methods are you using to promote your book?
Blog Tour with Providence Books, Facebook to talk it up. Interviews on other radio shows and of course on my own show I do announce that my book is out and the information about the blog tour.

What formats is the book available in?
The book is available in paperback, ebook, PDF and Mobi

Who are your favourite authors?
My favorite authors are Steve Berry, Jon Land, Robert Dugoni and Robin Cook. I also love Edgar Allan Poe and Robert Louis Stevenson
What's the best thing about being a writer?
I love writing because I get to express myself in my own way. I can write about anything I want and create stories using my imagination and real life experiences.

Why do you think readers are going to enjoy your book?
YA readers love reading my Bertha Series because the stories are true to live and really did happen. They get to know me as a teenager and some of the issues that I had to deal with growing up. Some stories deal with bullying and mean girls while others deal with dating and friendships. Bertha Fights Back deals with real life issues that I encountered in the ninth grade.

How long did it take you to write your book?
It took me six months to write A Daughter’s Promise.

Who designed the cover?
I designed the cover myself. The picture is of my mom when she graduated High School and the frame is from the 1940’s and she loved roses. I found the frame online.

Who inspires you?
My sister inspired me to write my first book when we realized that my mom had Alzheimer’s and I had to retire from teaching. She dared me review a cookbook and I don’t cook and then dared me to write one about our life in the South Bronx. I wish she was still here.
Does your family support you in your writing career? How?
My father’s family reads and reviews all of my work and they do support everything I have done in the past and the present. My husband encourages me to continue and my sister was my editor before she passed away as well as my mother-in-law, Mom Lewis.
What are you currently reading?
I am reading and reviewing five books at this time: A Cuban Affair, Charlatans, The House of Spies, Proof of Life and Paradise Valley.

    I readthis book and it is compelling. IMO, everyone who has been a caretaker or may be inthe future should read it.
