PRINCESS BREEZE, the sequel to JUST BREEZE, is a
contemporary novel for tween/teen readers. It’s the story of soon-to-be
fourteen-year-old Breeze Brannigan and the adventures she, her parents, and
best friends have during the summer. It’s a fun story with a touch of danger.
Here’s the back cover blurb:
“For months, Breeze Brannigan has heard nothing
from Cam , the prince she met at school and who
disappeared one night without telling her goodbye. The night she graduates from
middle school, however, he contacts her and invites her to visit Isla del
Fuego, his home. Who could refuse such an invitation?
“Breeze along with her whole family and best
friends, Amy and Allison, sail to the island where she and Cam
renew their friendship. But, danger lurks: a legend comes to life; and Breeze
finds herself in the middle of a battle that can have only one winner.”
Do you
read your book reviews? How do you deal with the bad or good ones?
Yes, I read most of my book reviews. I’m
interested in what people think about my stories. That way, I know where I need
to improve. I’m disappointed in the bad ones, of course. But I also know that
everyone has his/her likes and for some readers that particular book might not
be their favorite subject to read. They have a right to their opinion, as long
as they explain their reasoning.
Good reviews make me smile. I must be doing
something right if a person writes a nice review.
What
formats is the book available in?
It’s available in paperback and hardback.
Where
can people find out more about you and your writing?
I have two blogs and other social media:

Who is
your favorite character in your book and why?
My favorite is Cam ,
the young prince. Even though he’s royalty on a small, tropical island, he
doesn’t think he’s better than others. He’s courteous and polite, but isn’t
above a joke or two.
Who
designed the cover.
The fabulous Aidana WillowRaven designed the
cover. She has a talent for catching the essence of a character in her artwork.

If you
could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?
I’d tell her not to wait to start writing. You
only have one life, so take advantage of the time you have. And be honest with
your readers. You’re writing for them. Give them stories they will enjoy. And
don’t let other people’s comments or bad reviews worry you. Write from your
heart, and readers will know that. Also, never say “I can’t.” Instead, say, “I
can.”
Who or
what inspired you to become a writer?
My students inspired me. I was a teacher for
twenty-two years, and watching my students read great children’s books and tell
the class about them in their reports was such fun. They really had a good
time, which got me to thinking, and that’s scary. I had written nothing except
a poem in the eighth grade that my teacher sent to a competition, or something,
and it was published in a book of poetry by high school students. What would it
be like to write a book that kids enjoyed reading. You never know unless you
try, so I tried. I’m glad I did. Today, I have fifteen books published, and I
give those former students credit for making me take the chance.
When
you’re not writing, how do you spend your time?
I enjoy playing the piano, taking long walks
with my Tiger cat, and playing with my Patches cat. I also read a lot and review
books for others. Studying the lesson every week for the Sunday School class I
teach also keeps me busy.
