The Boy That Grew Teeth In His Ear is
a book about how sometimes we can get caught up in following the crowd and want
to be popular. Since bullying has been a problem from the beginning of time this
book is to invite children to realize they can be good friends and not pick on
others and make fun of others that are different than them or new to a school
or neighborhood.
Aaron had moved
to a new neighborhood and was being teased and picked on. In order to fit in he
started doing bad things to make himself fit in to the group that was picking
on him. He soon found out that a tooth started forming in his ear and he tried
to hide it. When his friends discovered it they wanted to have one just like he
had. They thought it was cool so this made him more popular so they started
picking more and more on others. Then more teeth grew in Aaron’s ear until he
had none left in his mouth. Then Aaron started hiding out in his upstairs
bedroom and wouldn’t go out and play or anything. He felt like a total freak
and sobbed and cried himself to sleep every night wanting answers to his
problem. One night Aaron’s ear started talking to him and told him to correct
all of his wrong doings and he would get all of his teeth back in his mouth. So
he arose the next morning and started apologizing and repenting all of his
wrong doings and he became happy with himself and gained all of his good family
and friends back.
What marketing methods
are you using to promote your book?
Mainly the computer. I first started
advertising on Facebook. I started a page called The Boy That Grew Teeth In His
Ear. I have gone through IC Creations for publishing.
What formats is the
book available in?
Kindle
and Hard Copy
Who are your favourite
authors?
Sherry Dew
What advice do you have for other writers?
I think I would get a website first. I do not have one yet and I am in
the process of having one built.
What's the best thing
about being a writer?
The opportunity to be creative and use experiences in my life to make up
characters and events.
Where can people find
out more about you and your writing?
At this time on other author’s websites or on the pages
that my book is being sold on. I have done some marketing on Facebook.
Who is you
favorite character in your book and why?
Aaron is my favorite Character. He is the tool for children
to watch as an example of first being a good kid, then wanting to fit into the
gang, and then realizing that it was not a good thing.
Why do you think
readers are going to enjoy your book?
They will enjoy the intensity
of the great art that was illustrated by me and the adventure and wonder of
what is going to happen next and the reality and truth of the way others are
and the morals they can learn from it.
How long did it take you to
write your book?
It only
took two days. I was totally into the writing part. The illustrations took
about two weeks. In later years I had my pencil sketches colored in with Photo
shop and that took about six months when I had the money available to pay her,
Who designed the cover?
I did
Yes. When I had a few clip art books published back in the 1990’s we
went directly to a publisher/distributor and paid the full price up front. I
never did any interviewing or anything like this. Times have changed and I
guess this is how things are done or maybe it was not explained to us when we
had the books published.
Where can a
reader purchase your book?
On Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble and a few other online
bookstores
What are you doing to
market the book?
At
this time, I am paying my publisher. I have my own sign business which I have
been doing for 30 plus years and my time is limited. I am doing these reviews
to get the word of mouth out and I do post some things on my Face Book page
which is titled “The Boy That Grew Teeth In His Ear.” My publisher is working
on a website for me. I need to research how to do a blog.
Who inspires you?
This may sound really strange to you
but my enemies and my life experiences.
What is your work in
progress? Tell us about it.
There is only so much time in a day to do everything I would like to
do. I have to almost schedule allotted time to work on things such as the book
interviews due to my already busy work schedule. I do have another book in the
making that my mother wrote when I was a teenager. I did the illustrations for
it. It needs to be edited and redone so that is my next project.
What are your thoughts on
self-publishing verses traditional publishing?
I am not sure. So far I am feeling more
like maybe I should have done traditional due to my lack of time to get my name
out there. I have only sold 2 books on Amazon this month. I don’t know if I am
expecting overnight success or if it would have been better to make this book
happen through a distributor. I like the idea of not having to pay money up
front for a printer and the distributor getting almost ½ off the income.
Who or what inspired you to
become a writer?
Probably my mother’s example
Does your family support
you in your writing career? How?
I have had 2 family members buy my book on Amazon so I would say yes.
What are you currently reading?
I am currently reading Conquering Your Goliaths by
Kathryn Jones and her Marketing Your Book On A Budget. I also read my
Scriptures daily and I am doing research in another publisher’s manual, New
Smart and Simple Publishing by Agreka Books.
What books or authors
have most influenced your life?
I am a convert to the LDS Religion so I would have to say some of our
modern day leaders such as Spencer W. Kimball, The Miracle of Forgiveness. That
one stands out to me and I have read it a few times for guidance and how to
overcome some of my own sins and the sins of others.
When you’re not
writing, how do you spend your time?
I spend my time working my full-time business which is very
tedious. Writing is relaxing and peaceful.
