Title: Once Upon An Ordinary School Day
Author: Colin McNaughton
A celebration of extraordinary teachers! The boy's breakfast is ordinary, his walk to school is ordinary, even his thoughts are ordinary. But when he goes to his classroom and sits down at his desk, his day begins to change - a new teacher, Mr. Gee, bursts into the classroom with an extraordinary idea that challenges all the children to use their imagination. Suddenly an ordinary day is turned topsy-turvy, and the boy is inspired in a way that will change him forever. The rollicking words and pictures celebrate the unexpected in this tribute to great teachers and students everywhere.Once Upon an Ordinary School Day is a 2006 Bank Street - Best Children's Book of the Year.
I loved this book! 5 Stars.
When I picked Once Upon An Ordinary School Day by Colin McNaughton to read with my kids I simple thought it might be a good read as the kids are due to start back at school next week after the long summer break. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was awesome!
I love how the illustrations built up along with the story going from greys to full colour. I also found the text to be inspirational, and thought provoking.
A great read for back to school, but also a great read for encouraging imagination and creativity. From a personal point of view, I also found it gave me inspiration for my own writing projects as the text adapts beautifully to writing a first draft.
I will definitely be on the look out for more books by this author.

Thanks for really nice review! I think this book is worth reading with kids and I’ll definitely try to do that with my daughter. I also was wondered after reading the article titled: “10 Books to Inspire You to Get Rich” where I found some good reads for me.
