All of my writing comes from the twisted roads of
my life. I write poetry and children’s stories
based on personal experiences. I also write short stories that become metaphors
for my own world.
Tell
us about your latest book.
Revelations of the
Anonymous is my first published book.
R.O.T.A. (the acronym I use) is a compilation of thoughts and poems from
a twenty-five year period of my life. It
is poetry of pain and suffering. When I
needed someone to talk to and there was no one, I discovered a pen and piece of
paper. I would take my tangled emotions
and put them on paper.
What
marketing methods are you using to promote your book?
My publisher, Christine F.
Anderson Publishing & Media handles most of my marketing and promotion via
social media and traditional marketing and publicity.
Who
are your favourite authors?
Augustan Burroughs is one
of my favourite writers. He is real,
honest and raw. I also love Hugh
Prather, through his words, I was able to unlock my
deepest thoughts and feelings. Dylan
Thomas and Sylvia Plath are also among my favourites.
What
advice do you have for other writers?
I believe the most
important thing for a writer to do is to physically write. Make it a habit;
make it a necessity. It really doesn’t
matter what comes out, as long as it is honest.
I guess the most important bit of advice I can give to other writers is
to “not stop writing until the miracle happens.”
What's
your favourite quote about writing/for writers?
“Write without judgement,
write from your heart, and always remain true to yourself.”
What's
the best thing about being a writer?
The best thing about being
a “writer” is that I don’t have a boss.
I get to write anytime, anywhere, about anything I want. As a writer, I have the freedom to share from
within and inspire others.
Where
can people find out more about you and your writing?
I have a website, “staceyinsideout.com”
where my short stories and poetry have a forum.
Why do you think readers
are going to enjoy your book?
I believe
that readers will not just find “joy” in my book, but they will relate to the
calamities of life and struggles of a woman.
My writing is an exploration into my soul and readers will be inspired
to know that if one woman can make it through the horrors of life, they can as
well.
How long did it take you
to write your book?
After my mom died in 1986, I promised myself that I
would put all my poetry into a book. In
December of 1986, I took my poems, typed them up and added a cardboard
cover. I ran away to New York, no job in
site, I decided to follow the street vendors.
I printed 100 copies at the local print shop and sat on the corner of
Columbus and 72nd and sold R.O.T.A. for $10 a pop. I made enough to pay my $600.00 rent
payment. Since then, I continued adding poems
until finally, this year, I decided to “complete” my work. I took the original 75 or so poems and added
another 100 poems to create the full book of R.O.T.A.
Did you learn anything from writing your book that was
unexpected?
I learned
a new “freedom.” Writing is the best way
for me to express my innermost thoughts, a venue for my broken soul to find
comfort.
Where can a reader
purchase your book?
Revelations of the Anonymous can be purchased on
Amazon or on my website staceyinsideout.com.
Who inspires you?
My
children and husband are the inspiration for my short stories. Past experience inspires me to write my poetry.
What is your work in progress? Tell us about it.
I have
two children’s books coming in July. The
first book is “The ABC’s Of I Love You.” Since children all over the world
memorize the tune to the ABC’s early in their years as an introduction to the
alphabet with its symbols, sounds and words.
In this simple piece of literature, parents can teach their children the
alphabet with the representation of each letter that is part of a sentence
confirming how much their child is loved and accepted, no matter what.
“Mommie, What Does Love Mean?” is a conversation for parents
with a curious child asking difficult questions. This conversation gives children the
explanations they deserve and gives parents a most invaluable tool to assist
their children in understanding a complex world as they make their
journey.
In 2015 readers can look forward to my memoir, Kosher Crack.
