Being interviewed on Radio is a great way to help spread the word about your books and build your reputation as an expert in your field. So how do you get interviewed on a Radio Show?
I found a large number of articles that cover this topic at http://www.radiopublicity.net/radiopublicitytips.htm but as there is a huge amount of information there I'm going to cover the main points in today's post.

- Don't limit yourself to the Top 100 Talk Shows. Other stations need to fill air space too.
- Talk about news stories connected with your book. Although some stations might be interested in a feature about your book and you as an author most will want more of an angle. The best guests don't sell, they inform.
- Provide hosts with:
- An in-a-nutshell description of your books.
- a list of questions they can ask you.
- A brief bio
- Information about where your book is available.
Pre-interview:
- Things you need to know about the show:
- The City
- Name of the Show
- Hosts name
- Time of interview (and time zone).
- How long it will last
- Find a quiet room from which to call.
- Get yourself a glass of water to sip during the show (never drink on air though. wait for an ad break).
During the show:
- Interact with the host. It's not all about you!
- Content is King. Offer interesting information.
- Have fun
Post-show:
- Always send a thank you note to the host
- Ask for a copy of the show so you can showcase it on your website (most stations will be able to send you an MP3 file).
