- What genre do you write and why? My currently published novels are Thriller/Suspense, however I just finished my first paranormal romance novel which is in the editing process now. I love to write what I love to read. I have had insomnia since I was a teenager and books became my way of getting through a sleepless night. Stephen King became my best friend, pulling me into his novels and helping me forget life and its stresses for a little while. Now if I read for a little while before bed, I can usually fall asleep and get a decent amount of rest.
- Tell us a bit about your latest book? Shipping and Deceiving is the second book in a trilogy of warehouse thrillers. The first is I Thought We Were Friends and I am currently working on the third Loss Prevention. They are not sequels, so they can be read as stand alone books. Shipping and Deceiving is about Deborah Strickland who has chosen a solitary existence. Her job as a shipping manager for Consolidated Freightways is her life. The work is high stress and fast paced for Deb and her five employees, especially now, during the Christmas season.
Although she is a good and caring boss, when the day is done so is the camaraderie.
Everything runs smoothly, until Deb hires a new employee to help get them through the holiday rush. Suddenly the entire crew finds themselves plagued with unexplained mishaps. As the supervisor, Deb is the one they turn to for help. Caught in a strange web of lies, she is no longer sure whom she can trust.
Then one day she finds a truck driver lying in a pool of blood on the floor of her office. When the police arrive at the warehouse, the body and the evidence are gone. Now Deb must find the killer before someone else gets hurt. And she'd better do it quickly before she becomes the next victim. - Do you have a video trailer for your book? If yes, did you make it yourself? (feel free to include the embed code for your video here) Yes, and I did make it myself. Nadia Brown with Author-promotion.com shared with me the program in which to use, and I really had a great time making the videos.
- Who is your book published with and why did you choose them? I actually published through createspace.com. I entered my newest book Temptation into a contest put on by createspace and Amazon, and then was contacted by createspace through email about publishing with them. I initially planned to wait until I found an agent and to publish the traditional way, but I had several people ask me when they could read my work. I decided to go ahead and give self publishing a shot, and have been quite happy with the process and the outcome.
- Being a writer is not your only job. How do you find time to write your novels? I take every spare minute I can to jot down ideas for my projects. If I have a day off, I sit in front of my computer all day writing. I am currently working on book III of my warehouse thrillers, and have made it a habit to write for at least an hour every night before going to bed.
- What advice do you have for other writers? If you have a passion for writing don’t let anything stop you from doing so, even self doubt. I never dreamed I would write a book let alone publish one, and now I am getting ready to publish my third one. And that I have an audience that is actually enjoying my work is one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life.
- Where can people find out more about you and your work? www.tinadecoux.com the books are also available at most online book retailers, and Barnes and Noble.
- Anything else you'd like to add? Thank you so much for the opportunity to talk about my novels.
