Review of Daughter of Mine

The author, in her portrayal of Tiziana, depicted for me a woman whose determination would not be influenced by the accepted social constraints placed on women, even today. In Canada, where as an engineer, a male dominated occupation, we see glimpses of friction in her firm because she is a woman. In Italy, the unwritten rules applying to the role of women in society becomes more pronounced but her will power transcends these forces. Most important is that, in this assertive nature that defines Tiziana, the quality of overall femininity in the character is maintained. A women can be as empowered as a man and still maintain all the attributes which define women. A most important lesson that I took from this book.
