Must Know Twitter Tip

Firstly, Happy New Year! A bit late I know but I was ill and so my 2014 starts today. Have you made your new years resolution yet? My resolution this year is simple, to be more awesome than last year. With that in mind, I was thinking of little things I can do that will make a big impact. That got me thinking about the little tips that I can share with you that can have a big impact on your results. As I'm currently working on a book about Twitter I figured that was a good place to start and so in today's post I'm going to share with you a little known fact about Twitter.

When you post a status update on Twitter starting with an @ tag only those that are following both you and the person you tag will see the post.

For example, if your doing a Twitter interview and the interviewer and interviewee start each post by tagging the other only people following both of you will see the posts. Not what you want. There are some simple ways to get round it though and make sure your posts are reaching as many people as possible.

1) put a . before the @ sign
The . won't interfere with your post but it will mean that the post is view-able by the public.

2) include the @ tag later on in the post.
You can still address the person directly, just make it part of the sentence. e.g.
Looking forward to the @Writers_Authors ecourses starting this year.
As the tag isn't right at the beginning of the post it can be seen by everyone.

As you can see, sometimes little things can make a big difference.

What little things will you be doing this year to help make it your most awesome so far? Share in the comments section below.
